Day 478: Who I Am

See how far you've come ? Be proud of

yourself. If nothing else, one day, you

can look at someone straight in the eye

and say: "But I lived through it and it

made me who I am today."

Breakfast was a 2.1 ounce 180 calorie cinnamon roll. Power fuel was a 5.3 ounce 80 calorie Light & Fit tiramisu yogurt. Morning snack was a 155 calorie chocolate shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 4 ounce 230 calorie four cheese melt with a chef salad. Dressing added 30 calories. I didn't get around to an afternoon snack. Dinner was a 7.5 ounce 220 calorie chicken fettuccine alfredo that I served over riced cauliflower. I also had a bowl of roasted veggies. Evening snack was a 2.2 ounce 140 calorie lemon zest cake. Total calories for the day are 1035 and I got 64 ounces of water in.

Today's highlight was a trip to Walmart. I took the long way there just to get some time out of the house and to enjoy my car. I noticed right away that there were many more people out and about and even came across a takeout chicken bbq place that is open for the season. They were doing a brisk business on this gorgeous day ! Walmart was more crowded than it has been but most everyone had a mask on. They actually had lots of toilet paper for a change. They had Great Value brand, Quilted Northern and Angel Soft but no Scott, which is my preferred brand. I don't need any so I resisted the urge to buy some "just to have it". I'd rather leave it there for people who are running short. I also saw paper towels, napkins and tissues so perhaps the paper product hoarders have reached max capacity. Cleaning products are still in short supply and I don't think that is going to change for a while. Lots of people were ignoring the arrows on the floor that indicate which direction you're supposed to go down the aisles, so that was a problem. The dairy had plenty of milk & cheese products but seemed to be low on eggs and butter. Frozen veggies seemed to be in short supply as well. I couldn't get the brand of riced cauliflower I normally buy (Birdseye) but I got Green Giant and it's almost as good. I just like the texture of Birdseye a little better. I took a quick look at the meat department from a distance and there seemed to be a fair amount of meat available. They had plenty of fresh veggies so I'm good for another week. I felt a little self conscious buying 7 heads of lettuce but I eat salad every day and I use a whole head. Bread and baked goods were plentiful too. All in all it seems like the supply chain is starting to catch up a little and perhaps the panic is dying down a bit. I still remember going to Wegmans and Walmart back on March 15 and finding most of the shelves stripped bare. I don't think I'll ever forget that. March 15 seems like it was the last "normal" day because mom and I went to Point Place casino and then to my brother's for dinner. Right after that they closed everything and I haven't seen any of my family since. Today there was a young couple in the checkout lane next to mine and neither of them had masks on. They had a baby with them (maybe 9-10 months old) and the child had no mask either. The man told the woman she was supposed to stay behind the line on the floor and her response was "I don't care". Clearly neither of them cared enough to protect their child and I thought that was pretty sad. Children are such precious gifts. I don't know if the mask is really doing any good but I wear one. My hope is that the employees of the store or those who are most at risk feel a little bit safer. If they do, then what is nothing more than a small inconvenience for me is well worth it ! It was so warm when I left the store that I opened the sun roof for the drive home. Temps were well up into the 60's so as soon as I got home I had my morning snack and then set to work washing and waxing my car. I spent 3 hours nonstop on that task ! I couldn't believe it when I went back in the house and saw how much time had passed ! It was time well spent, as the car sparkles inside and out. The sprayer on my hose didn't make it through the winter but luckily I had an extra one in the garage ! I do see a new obsession though ... as I've added tire gloss and interior detail spray to my grocery list ... lol ! I do love the Meguiar's car products !

Today was Day 478 of Nutrisystem and Day 41 of quarantine ! Today's quote was a fitting message for today. Washing your car isn't exactly a life changing accomplishment for most people but it was huge for me. Before I started losing weight and getting fit I would not have been able to do it. I just didn't have the stamina to do much of anything, let alone spending 3 hours washing a car. I also would have been too self conscious to be outside doing that. When you're big you imagine that everyone is watching your every move and making fun of you ! That was in the back of my mind today still .. so I made sure my behind was never facing the street .. lol ! Needless to say, I was pretty darn proud when I rolled that sparkling car with a mirror shine back into the garage and then picked up all the stuff I'd used and put everything away before going back in the house. All of that bending and scrubbing and polishing was physical activity that I couldn't have done before I started losing the weight. When I weighed 300 pounds my back hurt all the time and I'd get out of breath with the smallest amount of exertion. I can remember standing at the kitchen sink washing dishes and having to take a break or lean on my elbows because my back was aching and too weak to keep me upright. So I am pretty proud of myself today. Like I said, for most people washing their car is no big deal but for me it was a huge accomplishment ! On a side note, I'm glad I did it today since it's supposed to rain tomorrow !

I was starving and a little weak from hunger after finishing the car so I was glad I only had to wait 90 seconds to microwave my lunch melt. Once I ate that I made my salad and felt a lot better. I got done with the car around 4:30 so after I ate I sat on the couch with a nice cup of coffee ... and got lazy ! I finally booted myself off the couch at 7:30 and got on the treadmill. I could not let the day go by without using either the treadmill or the Total Gym. I completed a 27 minute interval "walk" in Shanghai, China with iFit trainer Zac Marion. The four 3 minute intervals were at 3.5 or 3.6 mph and there was a 1 minute recovery at 3 mph in between each interval. At the end of the last interval he bumped the speed up to 3.7 mph so I worked up a sweat ! I did this workout once before and it seemed a lot harder, so I guess my fitness level has improved ! I logged 27 minutes, 1.4 miles and 137 calories. I opted to forego a 2nd treadmill workout and the Total Gym. I was just plain tired and it was late and I hadn't even had dinner. Besides, I probably burned a few calories washing the car ! I did finally have dinner around 9 pm.

It's time for a nice long hot shower and then I'm crawling into bed ! Today was a wonderful day and I'm looking forward to a relaxing Sunday !
