Day 418: Regrets
"Don't regret being a good person, to the
wrong people. Your actions say
everything about you, and their
actions say everything about them."
~Vex King~
Most of us can probably think of at least one person you were good to that didn't really deserve your kindness. I know I can think of a few I've encountered over the years. Who knows, there may be people who think of me as that person. I'm sorry if you do. I'm certainly not perfect and I've made plenty of mistakes over the years. I probably wasn't much of a friend to anyone but until recently I was barely surviving myself. If I tried to reach out and didn't get the response I was looking for there was never going to be a second attempt. I eventually gave up on developing friendships and a support system. Food had always been my friend and it never let me down, so as long as I had that I was good to go ! Anyhow, I saw today's quote on one of Vex's posts that talked about a friend who confided in him. She regretted putting her trust and faith in someone who ended up not being worthy of it. His message to her was not to let that one person's actions keep you from continuing to be that good person, while making sure not to let yourself be taken advantage of again. That's not an easy thing to do when you have a good heart. I think it's hard to draw a line between friendship and someone taking advantage of your kind heart. I know I let myself be taken advantage of for years by multiple people and I'd like to think I've learned my lesson. I don't regret being a good person but I do regret allowing people to take advantage of that. I'd like to think I won't ever let that happen again. These days I put myself first and that doesn't leave much room for anything else. My focus remains on losing the weight and getting fit and doing what is best for me. So far it's working and I'm pretty happy about that !
Breakfast was a 2.1 ounce 180 calorie cinnamon roll with coffee. Power fuel was a 5.3 ounce 80 calorie Light & Fit creme brulee yogurt. Morning snack was a 155 calorie vanilla shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was an 8.2 ounce 200 calorie beef burrito bowl that I served over lettuce and salsa. Afternoon snack was another 5.3 ounce 80 calorie Light & Fit creme brulee yogurt and 12 low fat wheat thins (90 calories). Dinner was a 5 ounce 210 calorie mushroom stuffed chicken breast with roasted veggies. Evening snack was a 2.1 ounce 130 calorie cream filled chocolate cupcake. Total calories for the day are 1125 and I got 64 ounces of water in.
Today was a work at home day so I got a workout in during lunch. It was a 23 minute walk in Hawaii with Kirsty Godso, a new to me iFit trainer. Speed ranged from 2 mph at the start to 3.3 mph the last few minutes and there was no incline. She's an engaging trainer so I'm looking forward to completing more of her workouts. After work I completed #13 of 14 in the Easter Island series with Dr. Dale Simpson. This 33 minute workout had a fair amount of incline and the pace was 2.5 mph. I definitely worked up a sweat ! The workout I have left in this series is 48 minutes long so I won't be completing it until Friday. I'll definitely do this series again just because I really enjoyed his stories and enthusiasm for the history of the Island. After dinner I hopped on the Total Gym for a half hour or so. Today I logged 2.4 miles, 56 minutes and 295 calories.
I was up early this morning so I got some laundry done and made a fresh pan of roasted veggies before work. I had fresh broccoli, carrots, mushrooms and green beans and I dressed them with some hot garlic powder, garlic jalapeno seasoning and some olive oil. I had a big bowl with dinner and they were delicious. I had a few spare minutes during lunch so I went outside and cleared the snow left on the edges of the driveway. My area has a winter storm watch starting at 4 am Thursday morning and they're saying we could get 2-3 FEET of snow ! I'm hoping this forecast is just as wrong as every other one has been this winter .. but I'll probably end up working from home on Thursday anyway.
Since I have to get up early tomorrow I'll be going to bed earlier than usual. Time for a nice hot shower and a warm cozy bed !
