Day 361: Reflection
In all honestly I didn't expect to be this far into my weight loss journey as the end of the year approaches. Nutrisystem advertises an average weight loss of 1-2 pounds per week, or 52-104 pounds in a year and I've already lost 118. I'm sure my exercise program is a big part of that. Regardless, I couldn't be happier ! For maybe the first time in my life I've actually achieved something amazing. I can look back on 2019 and not be filled with regret for all the things I "should" have done. Instead I can celebrate the things I did ! I can also look forward to 2020 and be excited about continuing the journey towards my goal weight. I'm also looking forward to bringing that last credit card balance to zero. 2019 wasn't a perfect year, as my professional life changed significantly and remains uncertain. Still, the silver lining to that cloud is the fact that right now I can work from home 3 days a week. It's a blessing I am truly grateful for on the snowy days of winter. I've learned a lot about myself over the past year and although life has gotten better I still have a lot of work to do.
Breakfast was a 2.5 ounce 160 calorie package of buttermilk waffles that I toasted and topped with sugar free syrup. I did not have a power fuel. Morning snack was a 155 calorie vanilla shake with peanut butter powder. I haven't had a shake in a while so I thoroughly enjoyed it ! Lunch was a 4.25 ounce 200 calorie turkey pot pie melt with a chef salad. Dressing added 30 calories. Afternoon snack was a 90 calorie veggie cake (12 to go!) and a 5.3 ounce 80 calorie Light & Fit tiramisu yogurt. This left 485 calories for dinner and an evening snack. Dinner was a 260 calorie 9.5 ounce roast turkey medallions with mashed potatoes and gravy. I had a big bowl of my roasted veggies with it. Evening snack was a cup of french vanilla coffee and a 140 calorie 2 ounce pumpkin cake. Total calories for the day are 1115 and I got 64 ounces of water in.
Today was a good day to work from home. It was cold and rainy and gray but at least it wasn't snowing .. yet ! Looks like I will be spending New Year's Eve at home as there is a winter storm warning for my area starting tomorrow afternoon and stretching into Wednesday. We could see 6-12 inches of snow so I'm glad tomorrow is a work at home day and I'm off Wednesday and Thursday. It was a relatively quiet work day so I was able to catch up pretty quickly.
The best part of working from home is the ability to get 2 workouts in. During my lunch hour I did #18 of 24 in the Alps series with John Peel. Pretty much the entire 24 minute workout was at max incline and speed varied from 1.7 mph to 3 mph. I was able to complete the workout without holding onto the rails since my incline tops out at 10% and the speed was slow enough not to need to hold on. Before dinner I did a recovery workout with Hannah Eden. This had 4 minute intervals at 2.8 mph with some off-machine exercise in between intervals. Since my fitness level is nowhere near the level required to do the exercises I just stayed on the treadmill and bumped the speed to about 2.5 mph. I did do some stretching after the workout was done. I can bend enough at the waist to touch the floor with my fingertips, but it'll be a while before I can flatten my palms on the floor like Hannah ! I logged 2.4 miles, 57 minutes and 370 calories.
Although tomorrow is a work at home day I still need to be up fairly early so it's about time for a shower and bed.
