Day 240: The Start of A New Year

" I choose to feel good about myself each day. Every morning I remind myself that I can make the choice to feel good. This is a new habit for me to cultivate." ~Louise Hay~

When you spent so much time worrying about everyone else, it's a new experience when you focus on caring for yourself first. When you start caring for yourself it's easier to feel good about yourself. Losing the weight is doing that for me. It's not just about liking the way I look, it's also about liking the way I feel. Every day that goes by I spend less time thinking about the past because I have so many more positive things to think about. The good memories are replacing the bad memories. I'm content with simple things such as dinner with my mom on this special day. That's enough. It's not about gifts or cake or parties. I thought those things would replace the emptiness I felt but I know now that it wouldn't have made a difference. Nutrisystem has really helped me turn my life around because it forced me to put myself first. That is what I actually needed all those years ! If you count using a 30 day month you could say I've been on Nutrisystem for exactly 8 months now and I could not be happier with my progress.

Progress Update: I lost 1.6 pounds this week, for a total loss to date of 92.6 pounds !

The 100 pound mark is so close and I know I will be there long before I hit the one year mark with Nutrisystem. I'm pretty amazed by that !

Breakfast was a 2.5 ounce 160 calorie package of buttermilk waffles spread with peanut butter, which adds about 100 calories. Also had a cup of brazilian sunset coffee. Second cup was salted caramel. Morning snack was a 155 calorie vanilla shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch, afternoon snack and dinner were all rolled into one. I went to Red Lobster with mom for the "endless shrimp" preview. Since it was my birthday I pretty much ate what I wanted and went way over 1200 calories. I started with a lobsterita, which is 350 calories of frozen goodness. Then I had a garden salad with their champagne vinaigrette, which is only 70 calories and delicious. My first entree was shrimp scampi (12 small shrimp), sriracha-honey shrimp (12 breaded shrimp) and steamed broccoli. My next serving was the traditional fried shrimp with cocktail sauce. I'm not sure how many there were, somewhere between 6 and 12. I ended the meal with 6 shrimp scampi. I guess if I had to indulge myself on my birthday shrimp was a good way to do it because the shrimp itself is relatively low calorie. The butter, breading and deep frying is what adds the calories. I also had one cheddar bay biscuit (160 calories). How can you go to Red Lobster and not have one ?
The picture below tells the story ... my meal was about 1950 calories. Sodium and fat are off the charts. So my total calories for the day are about 2,495, because I had a 3.5 ounce 130 calorie ice cream sandwich for my evening snack. I'm not really proud of that calorie count but it's one day out of 240 and tomorrow I will be back on track. I will tell you that I was uncomfortably full after that dinner, because I'm not used to eating that much. I ate all of tomorrow's calories today ! 😬

I did get a workout in when I got home so that burned off a few calories. I also got 32 ounces of water in during my workout, which will help flush out some of the sodium. I suspect I will be thirsty all night ! Tomorrow is a family get together so I'll be navigating mountains of food and desserts. I did fine with that at 4th of July and I have no doubt I'll be fine tomorrow too.

I found the cutest sneakers at Kohl's so I finally have new treadmill shoes ! My mom liked them too so she bought a pair as well. They are SO comfortable !

Time for a hot shower and my warm bed. It was a great birthday !
