Day 230: Courage

"It takes a lot more courage to let something go than it does to hang on to it, trying to make it better. Letting go doesn't mean ignoring a situation. Letting go means accepting what it is, exactly as it is, without fear, resistance, or a struggle for control." ~Iyanla Vanzant~

Today's topic was going to be a rant about passive-aggressive statuses, but I decided to just let all that negativity go. So I did my workout and then came back to my laptop. I checked Yahoo News to see what was going on in the world and happened to see the horoscope section, which was set on the wrong one so I updated it. Then I read today's horoscope for me, because the first 3 words caught my eye. Here's what it said:

"Bite your tongue if you catch yourself about to dish unsolicited advice. Save the oversharing for another day when your mood is lighter. Your candor may be a bit much for others to handle under these combative skies. Soften your stance and be flexible in your view. Logic wont help you solve troubling problems today, so think twice before you turn to anyone for feedback. You could upset someone by being too quick to state your observations, especially if they involve any unproven assumptions. Watch where you drop those truth bombs. Make a conscientious decision to put kindness first."

I've never been one to read or believe in horoscopes but wow ... this one was spot on for today ! So you've been spared the rant and my opinions on social media. Instead you'll get the usual boring blow by blow description of my day. Today was a bit less busy than the past week or so, which allowed me to catch up on some things I've been neglecting. Tomorrow is my Friday and I don't like to leave things undone when I have time off. Hard to believe I only have 6 working days left in my office. I've always worked in downtown Syracuse so this is quite a major change ! I've decided to look at it as a bit of an adventure and a chance to meet some new people .. who won't ever know the old me !

Breakfast was a 2.1 ounce 160 calorie cherry cheese roll with caramel vanilla cream coffee. Second cup was cinnamon roll. Morning snack was a 155 calorie vanilla shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 4 ounce 230 calorie meatball parmesan melt with raw carrots. Afternoon snack was a 5.3 ounce Light & Fit lemon meringue yogurt and a 0.65 ounce 100 calorie bag of Skinny Pop popcorn. This left 475 calories for dinner and an evening snack. Dinner was a 8.5 ounce 250 calorie chicken vegetable stir-fry with riced cauliflower. Evening snack was a 1.3 ounce 140 calorie lemon cooler cookie. Total calories for the day are 1115 and I got 64 ounces of water in.

It was unusually dark when I left for work this morning as a result of storms that were moving in and I saw lightning in the distance all the way to Syracuse. The closer I got to the city the darker it got, so I thought I was going to run into a downpour. Luckily for me I was safe and sound in my office by the time the rain hit shortly after 7 am. Not exactly a great day for the NYS Fair to start ! The rain moved off by early afternoon and by late afternoon we had blue skies and sunshine.

Tonight I was thinking about all the changes I've noticed since I started losing weight and exercising. I realized my bad hip has not given me any trouble lately (knock on wood!) and my back bothers me less and less. I look in the mirror today and it's hard to picture what I looked like before, so I'm glad to have photos to look back on and remind me how far I've come. Friday I'll be going to the NYS Fair and that will be a little of a test, because for me the Fair was always about the food. Going with my fit & trim sister always held me in check just a little bit, but I always had my pizza fritte and brought home sugar waffles, fudge and candy coated nuts. I was thinking I would have pizza fritte as a treat this year but I've decided against it. They're huge so it's a ton of fat & sugar calories. There won't be any sugar waffles, fudge or nuts this year either. All contain too much fat, too much sugar and too many calories. I may treat myself to a wine slushie and that will be enough. I plan to have breakfast and my shake before we go so I think I'll be fine.

Time for a warm shower and my comfy bed. I went to bed later than usual last night and got interested in the season finale of "Pose", so I didn't get as much sleep as I usually do. As a result I am tired tonight !
