Day 229: Choose The Direction of Your Life

"Behind you are the challenges you've met. Before you lies new possibilities. Today you choose the direction of your life."

When I think back, there are plenty of challenges behind me. Sometimes I wonder exactly how I survived them all. I'd like to think there are just as many new possibilities in front of me. I've definitely chosen to look ahead and focus on the future. The near future will bring change as I transition from my office to working from home and commuting 1-2 days a week to a new location. This is not without anxiety as it means unfamiliar surroundings and people I don't know. The good thing is there will also be people I do know and that will offset some of the anxiety. Hard to believe I will walk out that door for the last time next Friday. I have to believe bigger and better things are ahead and the ability to work from home is a dream come true. When I bought my house I was working from home a lot, so the commute wasn't a concern. Once that changed winters became a big concern but I made it through. Nevertheless, I'm extremely grateful the coming winter won't be a source of anxiety. I also hope to stay healthier since I won't be spending so much time trudging through the snow in freezing temperatures or working in an office with a large number of people. I still plan to carry Clorox wipes since I'll be using a shared work space on days I do go to the office !

Breakfast was a 2.1 ounce cinnamon roll with butter toffee coffee. Second cup was hazelnut. Morning snack was a 155 calorie chocolate shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 4 ounce 220 calorie chicken fajita melt with raw carrots. Afternoon snack was a 5.3 ounce 80 calorie Light & Fit toasted coconut vanilla yogurt and 1/2 cup pineapple (70 calories). This left 495 calories for dinner and an evening snack. Dinner was a 7.5 ounce 230 calorie chicken marsala with brussel sprouts. Evening snack was a 1.9 ounce 120 calorie tiramisu. Calories for the day are 1055 and I got 64 ounces of water in.

I've always said things happen for a reason and today I found out that one of my go-to plus size retailers has filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy and is closing all of their retail stores. I've been buying clothing from Avenue for at least 5 years and I'm sad to see them go. I wrote a while back that one of my goals was getting small enough that I couldn't buy from them. Their sizes start at 14 and I wanted to be down to a 12 or less. I knew something was up with them as the jeans I had been buying were suddenly not available and everything on their website has been "on sale" all summer. I think a lot of plus size ladies will be very sad to see them go. I don't know if they're shutting down their online business. I hope they're not as they really do have nice things at reasonable prices. I'm fortunate enough to have found jeans I love at Boscov's and at online retailer Royalty. Boscov's is great because I can visit the store or I can shop online. I found Royalty because I bought a pair of their jean's at Boscov's and wanted another pair. Boscov's has a huge clothing selection and I always find bunches of things I like. So my whole point here is I'm glad I'm losing weight because it's making it easier to find clothes that fit. If I was still the same size I'd be panic stricken about the closure of Avenue. I'm sad to see them go, especially considering a whole lot of people are going to be losing their jobs.

Got my workout in tonight but that required a trip to my creepy basement to reset the breaker. This is the same breaker that I had trouble with a few months back. The electrician blames it on the sensitivity of the new type of breaker that is required by code and since it's been quite a while since it happened I tend to go along with that theory. At least now I know which breaker it is and if it continues to be troublesome I will be calling the electrician back.

Time now for a shower and bed. It's only Tuesday but I'm tired !
