Day 105: Master The Day
“You’re not going to master the rest of your life in one day. Just relax. Master the day. Then just keep doing that every day.”
I can get behind these words ! Focus on today and make it a great day instead of worrying about what you did or didn’t do yesterday or what you might or might not do tomorrow. You can’t change yesterday but you can learn from it and make today better. In turn, tomorrow will be better too !
Today illustrates why I need to spend some time this weekend planning out my meals. I chose an 180 calorie item for breakfast and a 230 calorie item for lunch. That right there is 410 calories. Add an 80 calorie power fuel and my 155 calorie morning shake and I’m already at 645 of 1200 calories. Then add a 170 calorie afternoon snack … 815 calories. That leaves me only 385 calories for dinner and an evening snack. I could have made that work – I have plenty of 90 calorie snack items and some pretty low calorie dinner items but I don’t want to end up with all high calorie items left as my food supply dwindles. I actually want to consume most of my calories at breakfast and lunch so it’ll take some planning. I guess you know what I’ll be doing Saturday in between laundry and cleaning the house. I’ll be out most of the day Sunday so whatever I need to get accomplished this weekend has to happen on Saturday. I may just throw the laundry in tomorrow night to get a head start.
Breakfast was a 2.1 ounce 180 calorie cinnamon roll with hazelnut coffee. 2nd cup today was triple chocolate. Morning snack was a 155 calorie chocolate shake with peanut butter powder. I drink the shakes because they’re high protein and have probiotics and lots of vitamins and minerals. Plus I like them ! Lunch was a 4 ounce 230 calorie steak and cheese melt with raw carrots. Afternoon snack was a 170 calorie Sargento Balanced Breaks. Dinner was an 8 ounce 250 calorie chicken and vegetable stir fry. I am out of frozen veggies so I had a salad with it. Zero calorie dressing was a lifesaver here but I put about 3 times more than was needed on my salad, so I ended up not eating half of it. In the words of Hermione Granger, “what an idiot” !!! In the end I did not have my morning power fuel so I actually had 465 calories (463 as they count each cup of coffee as 1 calorie) left for dinner and evening snack ... so I was able to have that 3.4 ounce 190 calorie brownie sundae that I couldn’t have last night ! I’m ending the day at 1187 calories and I’ve drank most of the 64 ounces of water I’m supposed to have. So it was a good day !
Got my workout in tonight and it was much easier than last night, since I was able to relax a bit after dinner. I definitely need a little time after I eat before hitting the treadmill. Funny store - I used an online calculator today that relates to weight loss and it recommended that I walk 12.4 miles a day and eliminate 991 calories from my diet (examples were give up 13 chocolate chip cookies or 7 beers) in order to get to my goal weight fast. Needless to say I left that page and won’t be sharing it .. lol !! I’d have to quit my job in order to walk 12 miles a day ! I suppose once my house was foreclosed and my car repossessed I’d be walking a lot more than 12 miles a day ! If I was drinking 7 or more beers a day I’d be an alcoholic ... with no house .. and no car .. walking everywhere. Even if I could walk 3 miles an house we’re talking 4 hours ! I’ll stay with my 1200 calories and my iFit workouts, thank you very much !
Weather was mild today but we didn’t see the sun. I almost had the car washed last night and considering it was sprinkling this morning I’m glad I didn’t. It’s not that dirty since we don’t have to deal with salt and sand anymore. I don’t know what happened in my area tonight but for the past hour or more I’ve heard nothing but fire trucks flying down route 104. There must be one monster of a fire somewhere close.
